Recruitment to GANDALF
Patients with primary immunodeficiency (PID) genotypes of interest that are recruited to the NIHR BioResource – Rare Diseases may be recalled by the NIHR BioResource and invited to participate in the ‘Research into genetic variation and altered leucocyte function in health and disease’ (GANDALF) study. Participation in GANDALF will allow for the collection of additional samples necessary to carry out the molecular measurements (immunophenotyping) that are a key part of the INTREPID project.
The recall will initially involve patients recruited to the NIHR BioResource – Rare Disease between 2015-2018 but will also eventually include newly recruited patients.
The NIHR BioResource and the INTREPID project research nurse will facilitate the recall process including inviting patients and arranging and conducting consent and sample collection appointments. To minimise inconvenience to patients, the INTREPID project research nurse will run recruitment ‘clinics’ at the sites where patients were originally recruited or will see patients in their own home. Where clinical teams at sites have capacity they will be supported to recruit their own patients.
